MIKE GILLIS: 2025-26 U18 COACH



As a dedicated leader with more than 20 years of coaching experience, Mike has a proven track record with the U18 age group. His approachable style lets his players have a voice and know they're being heard. His players consistently reflect his passion for the game as he motivates and mentors them while continuing to improve their hockey skills. Coach Mike’s approachable style and his valued communication style help his players continue to grow and develop their hockey skills. His extensive background has equipped him with a keen understanding of player development and team dynamics. Mike is passionate about fostering a growth-oriented environment where players are challenged to reach their full potential through dedication, resilience, and teamwork. His commitment to building a strong foundation ensures players are prepared for success on and off the ice.

With the right mix of assistant coaches, the entire staff strives for excellence and dedication. The RMHA U18A coaching staff believes in creating a growth-oriented environment where players are pushed to reach their full potential through dedication, resilience, and teamwork. Every player is encouraged to improve their skills, embrace challenges, and develop the character necessary to succeed in hockey and in life. Mike’s staff includes a dedicated goalie coach who focuses on goalie training to ensure that the team’s netminders receive top-notch instruction and development. Colin’s commitment to honing the skills of each goalie is a crucial component of the team’s overall success. The overall team focus is on building a strong foundation for players to progress to the next level, with hard work and mutual support at the core of everything they do.

The team goal is to create a competitive, high-performance environment where players develop their skills, win with integrity, and earn the opportunity to progress in their hockey careers. They aim to achieve an OMHA Championship while fostering a strong team culture built on hard work, accountability, and mutual respect.

Over the past three seasons, Mike has developed eleven players who have moved on to the Junior hockey ranks.
